Get Your Holidays On, Etsy Style

I’m a little behind on the holiday band wagon, since in my head its still somewhere near October. I’m not sure why (maybe it’s the weather) but this season just doesn’t feel very holiday-ish to me! But regardless, the holidays are here. And it’s time to deck the halls, Etsy style. Here are some fun items I’ve found to make it feel more like Christmas:

Ric, Movember, and Support Prostate Cancer Tshirt

Ric

Growing up, my father always told my brother and me that we could be anything we wanted. We could make money doing what we loved, if we strived to be the best at it. He was an advocate of pursuing your dreams. Still, I followed a more traditional career path for most of my life.

When I began designing graphic tees to benefit animals in need in 2007, I had big dreams, but it was just a hobby. My dad saw it differently. He wanted to be a part of it. He took off of work to come to meetings with me at a clothing manufacturer, even though I was in over my head and had no clue what I was doing. He even offered to be my sales rep, and suggested that he go door-to-door selling my tshirts. I thought he was crazy. I couldn’t afford to pay him anything and he had his own business to pay attention to. But I always kept the intention to include him as much as possible when I reached success.

I never got that chance. I lost my father to prostate cancer in March of this year. I changed the name of my line to his name, so that he will always be a part of this adventure. I believe he now helps me in ways he never could before.

Movember

Recently, I came across this movement called Movember. Here is their mission:

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Movember raises funds to support the following programs:

I absolutely love this idea and what it stands for. With so much awareness for breast cancer, prostate cancer gets a little lost in the mix. Throughout his battle with cancer, my dad attended monthly meetings by “Us Too“, an organization dedicated to prostate cancer education & support. Together, my brother and I designed this tshirt to help raise awareness for prostate cancer. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Us Too:

So buy a tee, grow a moustache, and spread the word about Movember & prostate cancer to everyone you love! Happy Movember!

Justin Bieber Launches Believe Charity Drive

It’s apparently all about Justin Bieber’s big heart lately….

Justin Bieber Under the Mistletoe

In conjunction with the release of his Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, Bieber also announced a new charity drive called Believe. He plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from his new album to this charity, and encourages others to donate as well. Specifically, he lists the following charities to benefit from the drive:

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Pencils of Promise
  • Musicians on Call
  • Project Medishare for Haiti
  • City of Hope
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of America
  • The Grammy Foundation

He chose the above organizations due to “their emphases on education, youth well-being and music.” He says, “The Believe Charity Drive directly benefits charities that are making a difference in the world. You can … donate as little as one dollar, or even donate your time, because everything will make a difference. Please join me in our quest to raise millions of dollars by the release of my new 2012 album, Believe. I know that with your help we can make a change.”

Thanks for giving back, Justin!

Quote Prints by Etsy

One of my favorite things to shop for on Etsy is a great quote print. They are a beautiful, simple way to add unique decor to your office or room. Put them in pretty frames and sit them on a shelf, or hang them on your wall, and they are sure to bring a smile to all who see them! Check out these great prints:

Believe You Can And You Will
“Believe you can and you will”

You Are Braver Than You Believe
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, & loved more than you know”

You Can't Direct The Wind
“You can’t direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails.”

When Life Gives You Lemons
“When life gives you lemons, find someone who has vodka & throw a party”

All You Need Is Love
“All you need is Love. Love is all you need.”

Happy quote print shopping! If you find something fun, leave a comment with a link!
